2019 Convocation & Synod

CANONICAL REQUIREMENTS

DIOCESAN COUNCIL NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS

Four members of the Diocesan Council will be rotating off at synod: one from each region, as well as one additional member from the Southeast Region. The restructuring of our regions back in 2017 threw off the Diocesan Council's regular rotation pattern and we are working to re-establish a normative 3 year staggered term pattern with one member from each region rotation off at each synod. In order to do this, we are in need of one additional Southeast Region Lay member to volunteer to serve a 1 year term with the possibility of being re-elected at the end of the year, in accordance with our Canons.

Therefore, the following four specific roles, from their respective regions, will need to be filled by election at synod:

  • Northeast Region Lay Member

  • Mid-Atlantic Clergy Member

  • Southeast Region Lay Member

  • Southeast Region Clergy Member

Please note: elected members of the Council may serve for two consecutive terms.  Please send your nominations to the Diocesan Secretary (bbowman@adhope.org).

The deadline for receiving nominations is August 30, 2019.  For further details on the nomination and election process, please see Title I, Canon 3, Section 2 of our Canons.

CHURCH DELEGATIONS TO SYNOD

As a reminder, all clergy of our Diocese are required to attend Synod, as are the lay delegates elected by each church.  In addition, in accordance with our Canons, we require a report from each congregation and mission, listing their delegation.

Rectors and Planting Priests, please fill out this form to submit the delegation for your congregation or mission.

The deadline to turn in your Church Delegation is August 30, 2019.

REQUESTING TO BE EXCUSED FROM SYNOD

Clergy, if you will not be able to attend synod, please email Ben Bowman (bbowman@adhope.org) to request to be excused from synod.

OUR MISSION
