UPDATE FROM THE GOVERNANCE TASK FORCE MEETING
BY BISHOP STEVE BREEDLOVE
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Our “Constitution and Canons Team" of Chancellor Jeff Weber, PEARUSA Director of Operations Ben Bowman, and I returned late Tuesday night from Phoenix, Arizona, following two days of meetings with the Governance Task Force ("GTF") of the Anglican Church in North America. There we presented our application to be received as an ACNA Diocese along with the our Constitution and Canons and other supporting documents. Our "traveling team" represented a much larger team of men and woman who gave tirelessly over the last three months to draft these core foundational documents that will serve to align us together and release the parishes and ministries of our new Diocese around the vision and mission to which God has called us.
I am very happy to report God's favor with the GTF that led to a unanimous, enthusiastic recommendation that Christ our Hope be accepted with full diocesan status in the ACNA by the Provincial Council in June of 2016. Further, I am humbled that the GTF sees our Diocese as gift of God’s grace within the ACNA. “We have nothing but what we have been given,” but in his generosity, it seems we have been given something to share with our family. May we be found faithful to this calling.
It was a true joy to spend these last few days thinking and dreaming together about the potential of our renewed and strengthened partnership with like minded Anglican Christians throughout North America. It is a privilege to be united together in offering the salvation found only in Christ our Hope.
With an ever increasing excitement about the days ahead,
Bishop Steve Breedlove
