Planting a Church?

The Diocese of Christ Our Hope is fully committed to the expansion of God’s mission through the planting of thriving and replicating Anglican Churches.

If you are called to plant a church, you have a calling that we do not take lightly. For the joy of Christ Jesus that is set before you, you will be taking on the spiritual accountability for lives and souls. Your calling puts you under the weight of ministry and can have a large impact beyond your success or failure in planting a church. Therefore, in the Anglican way, we want to confirm and celebrate your calling, and determine what we need to do to support your development and ministry.

It’s not like stepping into a church setting where things are established and orderly. Church planting is usually a startup effort that requires 7–10 years to establish. You will have to be accomplished in what it takes to minister to your flock, be able to oversee and manage the physical facilities of a church ranging from daily finances to emergency repairs, and have the dedication to attend to your family priorities as well as the endurance to work years in service to create what our Father has called you to do.

To be a Church Planter, you will have to be ordained in the Anglican Church. Once ordained, you will have further training on how to plant a church. This will include various seminars and trainings, testing and assessments, coaching and consideration for funding. You will have to become clear on who you are, your strengths and weaknesses, and your philosophy of ministry. You will be loved, and you will not be alone in your journey.

Please know that in this process, some of you who feel called to plant a church will decide on your own that you are actually called to some other aspect of ministry. There will be some who we, being held accountable for the church planters, will recommend for further development. And there will be some who we will encourage to consider other ministry alternatives if we do not affirm them to continue the church planting process. No matter what your outcome as a church planter, we pray for you on your journey and adventure in Christ.

Please take a look at the resources below and complete the Church Planter Registration to begin the process.
